Clopay Modern Steel Garage Doors

Clopay’s Modern Steel line of flush (no panel design) garage doors are a great way to maintain the modern look of your home without sacrificing thermal efficiency or potentially paying thousands more for aluminum-and-glass doors.

Clopay Modern Steel Garage Door Construction

Clopay’s model 9133 garage door is a 1-3/8″ thick, 3-layer (steel + insulation + steel) garage door with Clopay’s Intellicore® polyurethane insulation and an r-value of 12.9. The Clopay model 9203 is a very similar door, but is 2″ thick with an r-value of 18.4. The polystyrene-insulated 3-layer options 1-3/8″ and 2″ thick and have r-values of 6.5 and 9.0 (respectively).

We like the 1-3/8″ thick model 4053 garage door with polystyrene insulation (r = 6.5) for awesome quality at a reasonable price, and the 1-3/8″ thick model 9133 garage door with Intellicore® polyurethane insulation (r = 12.9) for great thermal efficiency while still getting a great value for your money.

Modern Style Garage Doors in Steel are a Great Way to Add Modern Flare without Breaking Your Budget

High-quality 3-layer flush (or Modern Grooved) garage doors are a great fit for many modern-style homes, but cost far less than other options, such as aluminum-and-glass type garage doors. These doors are durable, economical, quiet, and can offer excellent insulation value for houses with rooms above, or adjacent to, the garage.

Lose the Panel Design, Get Modern, and Choose Your Color

This customer originally had a gray-painted door with a raised panel design stamped into the steel. We think he made a great choice in opting for a flush door in Hunter Green. He was originally going to paint the door, but we offered him the option of getting the door factory finished in the green color. We had color samples on the truck, and we were able to determine that it was an exact match for the trim around the door.

The door color makes the door a beautiful accent piece that matches with the other trim, but does not blend in to its surrounding in a boring way.
